Cultivating Plants at Hongcun 宏村
Hongcun 宏村 Ancient Village is the second UNESCO world heritage village that I visited here in Anhui province. It is also a town noted for its Huizhou architecture just like its cousin Xidi 西递. Hongcun is a village that dates back hundreds of years. The village is said to be in that shape of an ox with the adjacent ponds representing various parts of the ox. Hongcun is also known as one of the bullwarks of the Wang 汪 clan and their houses are said to be one of the best examples of Huizhou architecture in the whole of China.
