Going to the Palace of Versailles

The following day was another busy day. We were going out of Paris to visit one of France’s most well known landmarks, the Palace of Versailles. We needed to make sense of the Paris metro map to figure out where to go. The palace is a bit out of the city which meant that we needed to take the suburban railway. There was one rail line which went to the palace and it was just one transfer away from where our apartment was. It was convenient enough to get to. We left a little early to hopefully beat any crowd. All was looking well at the train station as there didn’t seem to be too many people.

The stop is the Versailles-Rive Gauche. It has a brown sign below indicating it is the stop for the Chateau de Versailles. Fortunately, they were thoughful enough to put such places in more obvious locations to make it easy for visitors to find. The train ride took less than an hour to complete and it was convenient enough. Going out of the station, you will no doubt find a tourist information office which sells tickets to the palace. Although there were a lot of people in the queue, it moved surprisingly fast. We also tried to purchase tickets to the Eiffel Tower but they said they didn’t have any.
