Walking Toward the Paris Opera

Walking Toward the Paris Opera

The weather here in Paris wasn’t really very nice. It seemed to be raining the whole afternoon ever since we arrived. We got out of the Opera metro station to do some city exploration. We will be seeing the big ticket items in the following days. We first need to get our bearings right. I was wondering why the metro station was named as such. We were in a major shopping district in Paris and there were brand named shops all around. Not surprising since Paris is known as a fashion capital of the world. This is probably the reason my female companions were looking forward to this trip since they would be able to do a bit of shopping. We didn’t really have any plan here so we were just wandering around the place. We ended up at a rather classy looking building.

Impressive Facade of the Paris Opera

It turned out that is was the Paris Opera, it was after this building that the metro station was named after. The Paris Opera has numerous names, the one on the facade of the building is the Royal Academy of Music. As you can see, it does have that royal palace feel. The opera company has been in existence since the 1600s. As what you might expect from a very cultured city like Paris, there are a lot of performances here. It would surprise you that classical ballet seems to have its roots here. I would have been nice to watch a performance here but we didn’t really allocate time for that. We took photographs of the impressive facade and head to more important stuff – shopping.
