Barcelona Airport Terminal 2

I had mixed expectations about the airport at Barcelona. While Spain is supposedly a first world country and it should have very good facilities, I am aware that a lot of these facilities have been built some time back. We were taking an Easyjet flight from Barcelona to the French city of Paris. We took a bus from the Barcelona city center to the airport without any trouble but we weren’t dropped at the terminal itself for some reason. We had to walk a bit to get to our terminal. Barcelona’s terminal 2 has a few sub-terminals A, B and C. We needed to get to the Terminal 2C. I was a bit dismayed at the state of Terminal 2, the structure seems to be not very well maintained and it looks a bit old. It turns out that Terminal 2 had a bit of controversy with it. When it was launched, the terminal fees were so high that airlines didn’t want to use Terminal 2. The terminal has remained underutilized until the low cost airlines started using it.

The terminal didn’t seem to be very interesting. There was a small coffee shop which sold ordinary fare. We basically spent most of the time hanging out here since we had already dropped off our stuff at the check in counter. You can check in online with Easyjet so you only need to leave your stuff. Just make sure you pay for your baggage weight ahead of time. There wasn’t any need to go through immigration since there is free travel within the Schengen treaty states. This is a huge convenience. There is also no more need to change money since this is one big Euro zone. A lot of people don’t like thie European Union thing, but it really is quite convenient for tourists like me.
