On the Shores of Lake McDonald

I really enjoy visiting the lakes here in Glacier National Park. It is probably not just because they are beautiful but probably because I never grew up in a place which has plenty of lakes, even if they weren’t this pretty. I could be that lakes are still a novelty to me that I am just so fascinated with them. I think it is a luxury to be able to have a house beside a lake, especially one this pretty. Lake McDonald Lodge its built right on the shores of Lake McDonald. This means that guests can have a great front row seat to Lake McDonald.

It is also possible to go down to the lake itself. It is just a flight of stairs away. There is a small pier where boats can dock. I think it is easier to do that in the summer when the temperatures are warmer. In the colder months there is no boating on the lake. Looking across the lake you can actually see the remains of trees which were affected by a recent forest fire. A few years ago, there was a real danger of the forest fire reaching Lake McDonald Lodge that it was evacuated. It was fortunate that the lodge was not affected. The trees across the lake are still recovering from the fire. Hopefully, park authorities would now know how to limit the damage a forest fire can cause.
