Lake McDonald

Lake McDonald

Lake McDonald

I arrived at Glacier National Park late in the afternoon. I would be spending the next few days here so I do have a bit of time here. I could just start with my touring the following day. However, there isn’t really much to do a Lake Five Resort since I was only there to sleep. Even if I wanted to eat, I still need to drive out to find a place to eat. So I decided to head out and go to the village of West Glacier which isn’t too far away from Lake Five. West Glacier is one of the main entry points to Glacier National Park, of course, this is the western entrance. I decided to head straight to the main attraction of Glacier National Park which is Lake McDonald.

Calm Lake McDonald

Lake McDonald is one of those lakes which were formed by glaciers. Basically, the glaciers carved out these basins which when the glaciers retreated eventually became lakes. As you might expect in a place like this. The waters of Lake McDonald are exceedingly clear. This is due to the fact that there is not a lot of life in the waters. While there is still fish here, it is not plentiful compared to other places. It does make up for it in amazing beauty. Lake McDonald is probably the first stop for most visitors of Glacier National Park. I was struck with the beauty and serenity of the place. I just wished that the clouds won’t be there the next few days. I would be here several days so I have a few more chances.
