Going to Saint Mary’s Cathedral in Limerick

I arrived at the Hunt Museum late in the day and I only had an hour to explore the place. Not that I actually needed a full hour to do it. I wasn’t a museum geek that I needed to read every single thing they have on display. The museum eventually closed and I had to go back out into the rain, which happened to be worse than it was earlier. This just wasn’t my day. I decided to head to the old town which is the historical part of the city. King’s Island is probably the most historic part of the city as there are a lot of old structures here which survive to this day. I would love to explore this island but only if weather permits.

King’s Island is an island in the center of Limerick by the river Shannon, one of the most important rivers in the country. So much that this is used to define north or south of the country, despite its physical location. I had to cross a smaller river to get to King’s Island. There was no shelter along the way, so I needed to make do with my jacket. Fortunately, it proved resilient enough to the rain. I don’t think I have walked in this much rain in a while, I was thinking that maybe I shouldn’t have bothered going out today. My first stop today was Saint Mary’s Cathedral but I don’t think I would be enjoying my visit.
