Life in the Hoyop-hoyopan Cave

Dance Floor in Hoyop-hoyopan Cave

Dance Floor in Hoyop-hoyopan Cave

My very knowledgeable guide brought me to various parts of the Hoyop-hoyopan cave and pointing out interesting parts of the cave. The name cames from the sounds which the cave makes because of the wind. I didn’t get to hear it the alleged sound though. I was brought all around the cave and he would point out very old features including parts which shows that humans have been living here. It was already solidified into the rock but you can clearly see a skull. People have made this place home in various times of the years. More recently, is World War II which displaced a lot of people along the way.

Because of the war, people came to seek refuge here which made sense since it is a mountain and thus very stable. I assume the cave wasn’t as accessible as it is right now which made the place even more safe. In the martial law years, people also came here to congregate. I was surprised to see a round floor in one of the chambers. I was told that this was a dance floor. People would come here to socialize and as it was common back then, dance. I guess one could imagine having a disco ball in the center of the chamber and people would be dancing the night away. Ominously, there is a large natural skull pattern in the ceiling above the dance floor.
