I have been to a few caves in the around the world, most of them in the Philippines. I can’t say that I know what a good or a bad cave is but I think I know if something is good or not. The Hoyop-hoyopan Cave is a cave in the town of Camalig in Albay province. I only knew about this place from the internet and I managed to make it all the way here. This seems to be a very rural area. Visitors needs to walk in two kilometers from the main highway to reach the entrance of the cave. The entrance itself isn’t very impressive either. There was the cave entrance itself and a small hut where the caretaker stays watching out for visitors.

For a fee, there will be guided tour of the Hoyop-hoyopan cave. The guide is a nice fellow who seemed to be knowledgeable about the cave’s history and features. He guided me through the cave stopping every now and then to appreciate the mandatory rock formations which seem to pervade caves. He would point out some features which would take me some time to see. It seems to be common activity in caves. I have been on cave tours in other countries and they would also point out features which supposedly resemble something. At least I find it fun to try to see what they are trying to point out to me.
