Going to Legazpi City

I finally got a chance to go back to Manila after three years. I feels like it has been ages but I was very happy to see familiar faces. I naturally went pigging out, practically every single meal. It wasn’t cheap in Manila anymore but they have stuff I could not get in Ireland. I hated that it was extremely hot. We didn’t have air-conditioning so the heat was extremely uncomfortable. Fortunately, it was the rainy season so afternoon showers would cool down the sizzling city. I spent most of the days in the shopping mall, just cool myself off. I never thought that I would have adjusted to cold weather that quickly but here I am. We have a running joke where we would tease people from other countries with cooler climates about how picky they were about the hot weather. I never thought I would one of them.

While I spent a lot of time in Manila. I didn’t want to spend all that time there. One day, I decided to just go somewhere. I didn’t have time to book a flight somewhere so it needed to be a land trip. I thought about visiting the Bicol region which is supposedly one of the more tourist friendly areas. I have thought about visiting the area before but it never pushed through for one reason or another. Anyway, I made a reservation for a bus ticket at the Cubao terminal. There were several buses going to Legazpi city and I took the Peñafrancia one. I am familiar with the name. There were several others like Isarog and it seems like they are interchangeable. The bus was quite comfortable with retractable chairs. It was three chairs per row. I managed to land the single seater one. It was going to be an arduous journey lasting 12 hours. At least the bus was comfortable.
