I Amsterdam

We finally arrived at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. It was time to head home and get back to work. Before that we first explore the huge airport. We quickly checked in our stuff but before that, my friend asked about the I Amsterdam sign. I remember seeing that on television but I never remembered about it. Fortunately, there was a sign here at the airport. Apparently, it was just outside the terminal building. I’m surprised we missed it the first time. There was a large open area outside the terminal building. This is where passengers can stretch before their flights. This was also where they decided to put up the sign.

The I Amsterdam sign is quite well known. It is obviously a play on words but it is a nice gimmick. The letters were quite large and are as tall as a full grown man. There isn’t really much to do with the sign other than to prove the you have been there. It doesn’t really do anything either. I found out that there were a few of these signs in Amsterdam. Probably the most famous one is that one near the Rijksmuseum which we didn’t visit. We weren’t the museum type of visitor so we totally skipped that. Fortunately, there was a sign here at Schiphol Airport. There is also a set of letters which move around as well. I think that sounds fun and it makes appearances in various events around the city.
