Drinks at Brouwerij Troost Westergas
We were just enjoying our time with our hosts here in Amsterdam. We were going for drinks somewhere but we were taking our time to get there. We passed through a rather large park named Westerpark. I think this was a site of a former gas factory and it has since been converted into an entertainment center. There were a lot of restaurants here and it seems to be quite popular since there were already a lot of people this early. My friends brought us to this one shop named Brouwerij Troost Westergas.
Bitterballen at Brouwerij Troost Westergas
As the name implies, this is one of those microbreweries and they do brew their own beer here. We have tried a lot of beers in Belgium but I don’t think we had much success with Dutch beer. I guess the more commercial beers come to mind when it comes to Dutch beer and we were just trying to avoid that. My friends apparently know this and they brought us to this microbrewery. The place was quite spacious and it feels like a mess hall. There were brewing tanks on one side of the restaurant and I was getting quite excited as to what their offerings are.
Some Bar Food at Brouwerij Troost Westergas
They have a sampler where you can try four different kinds of beer with smaller glasses. I was having a hard time finishing all of it since there was a lot of it. For a change, we actually has something to munch here. It doesn’t seem to be a European habit to munch while drinking. Belgium didn’t seem to have that habit and this is the first time we found one. Perhaps it helps that this place is also a restaurant so they have appetizers as well as real food. For some reason, we went for the appetizers and munched on them. The snacks are basically bar food but one of them was bitterballen which is something like a deep fried meatball. I think it helped me finish the drinks. The meatball was actually quite nice and I was hoping they have more of that. My friends also needed to leave early since one of them wasn’t feeling that well. We said our goodbyes and we head back to the city center.
