Port of Rotterdam

We didn’t really enjoy our meal at the Fjord restaurant in Rotterdam. We rented at car in Amsterdam and drove it all the way down here. However, we found out that parking in Rotterdam or any other major city in the Netherlands will cost you a lot. We were only there for an hour and parking already cost us ten euros. I think it was too pricey for us and we decided to get out of here. However, before we left, we decided to catch a glimpse of Rotterdam. There was an area behind the restaurant which was beside a canal. The canal gives us a view of the city of Rotterdam. It seems to be modern and has strong ties with water.

Apparently, this place was near the Port of Rotterdam. As you might expect from a country which has continuous battles with the sea, they have a modern port here. Unsurprisingly, there are ships here. The canal isn’t large enough to hold large ships though. There are several ships here including some terminal facilities to carry cargo on and off ships. I don’t think we were in a run down part of the city though. This was a surprising place to see the city up close.
