Fjord Restaurant

We didn’t manage to drop off our stuff because the hostel was still closed so we had not choice but to bring it with us. We had to go to the airport to meet up with another friend who was scheduled to arrive that morning. We were already at the Amsterdam Sloterdijk station and it was a breeze to get to the airport. Fortunately, there was wifi and we were able to get in touch with our friend to meet up at the car rental. My friends seem to be intent on renting a car here and I was strongly against the idea. I was telling them that there is no point to rent a car since parking would be expensive and Amsterdam discourages the use of cars in the city. But the price of the rent was very tempting if I would say so myself. That would be the first time I would rent a car in another country I wasn’t sure what is needed.

We ended up renting with a company named Green Motion whose office was still in Ibis Hotel still a bus ride away from the airport. There are shuttle buses to bring us to the hotel though but it was disorienting to be doing all of this just as we arrived but that is the way it is with travel. There seemed to be a lot of paper work involved in renting a car. If we didn’t want to pay a higher rental, they will have to take a deposit for more than a thousand euro to cover possible damages. I guess that is all good as long as they return the money as soon as we return the car, but they still took a couple of weeks to refund the deposit. Anyway, we managed to get a nice Toyota Auris and we immediately took it for a drive.

That drive took us all the way south to the city of Rotterdam. I was the one who suggested the place because I was meaning to see a place there. We were shocked to see how expensive parking rates are in Rotterdam that we quickly looked for a place to eat. We ended up at this place called Fjord, it was recommended by some travel website. I was hoping to find a place which serves traditional food but I can’t find out. This seemed to be another place to eat. We had burgers and steak. Both of which weren’t that special anyway. We didn’t really car at that point since we were in a hurry to get out of the parking spot. Any longer and it might end up costing more than our food.
