I love riding on high speed trains. The rides are always very smooth and it feels like you are flying on the ground. We took the the Thalys high speed train service from Brussels to Amsterdam which will take around two hours. That is very quick. We passed through several major towns in Belgium including Antwerp which is the last stop in Belgium before crossing over to the Netherlands. Apart from Amsterdam, I don’t really know much about the Netherlands and I guess this is our opportunity to explore it a bit more. I wasn’t sure when we crossed the border since the borders the blurred with the European Union. I actually like it like this but it does have some problems as presented by the refugee crisis.

I only realized that we have reached the Netherlands when I started to see some windmills. It was just a single windmill but I was extremely excited seeing that. Perhaps the first windmill I have ever seen was those modern ones they use for power generation. This is the first time I have seen the traditional Dutch windmill. I hope I would be seeing more of them as we explore this country. The train eventually began to slow down and we knew that we were already approaching Amsterdam. It was a very busy city but we will be exploring that later. The train has two stops in the Netherlands, the first one is a Schipol Airport and the last one is at Amsterdam central. We got off at Amsterdam central.

As you might expect, the train station is massive. There were several berths for the trains here and it seems to be a very busy place. The train station isn’t as pretty as the Antwerp one though. The train station connects to other lines in the country as well. We needed to go somewhere else outside the city center since staying in Amsterdam seems to be quite expensive.
