Walking down the main shopping district of Meir was refreshing. It gave me the impresion that Antwerp is a high end type of city. Even the apartments here look like they are expensive to stay in. I wonder if there are jobs here for me. We decided to move on from this area, I didn’t really feel like shopping. My friend wanted to go to a place called Zuid. It was described to be a hip place and it sounds like it is a nice place to have some drinks as well as have dinner. Well, after a little trouble getting on a tram which didn’t seem to be coming at all, we managed to find out way to the district.

At first glace, I didn’t see why this place would be considered hipper than others. The buildings were just as nice here. There is an art musuem here but I wasn’t sure if that was the reason for the hip-ness. There are a number of restaurants here but there didn’t seem to be anything special. There were a few bars as well but it was still too early for that. We ended up going around the area but finding nothing special about it. We decided to go for dinner instead. That was this place near the roundabout called Finjan. It is described to be a Mediterranean restaurant. Well, looking at the menu there were a lot of kebabs so I guess it qualifies to be Mediterranean. I had a big plate of meat with the pita bread.

I guess I also missed this kind of food since I loved it. I know my town has stalls which sell kebab, but I never really bothered patronizing them yet. My plate contained a variety of meat. I only wished that they provided more pita bread since I ran out very quickly. Maybe they did give it for free but somehow I didn’t really ask for seconds. While we didn’t really manage to find out what made the Zuid district hip, I still managed to enjoy my dinner. Though it is not exactly Belgian food, it was still nice nonetheless.
