Yummy Belgian Waffle from Maison Dandoy

I never stopped looking for what to eat here in Brussels. Belgium is known to be a snacking country and what better place to look for it than Belgium. First on our list is arguably Belgium’s most famous snack – waffles. We had some waffles in Bruges but we weren’t really satisfied with the results. We learned that they prepare waffles in different ways. There’s Belgian waffles and there Brussels-style waffles. I don’t know what the difference is since I just want to eat them. I looked up about which waffles shops to try in Belgium and one stood out from the rest – Maison Dandoy. The name itself already gives me images of a very fancy place and I was hoping it won’t be too expensive.

The shop isn’t too far from the Manneken Pis, in fact, we already passed by this shop several times in our wandering of Brussels. Maison Dandoy is surprisingly not packed with people. I wasn’t sure if it was a bad sign but I still wanted to try their stuff. We ordered their signature waffles. The waffle looks very appetizing. The waffle itself is very firm to the point that it can be considered crunchy. My topping was very nice Belgian chocolate. Finally, it has powdered sugar. I wasn’t exactly expecting this since I thought they only put fruit and ice cream. This is probably the more traditional Belgian waffle. It was as nice as I hoped it to be. Fortunately, it wasn’t that expensive so I was a nice treat for me. They don’t just serve waffles but they also have cookies and chocolates. I think they are most famous for their waffles. Give it a try!
