I was quite disappointed with our visit to the Belgian city of Ghent. I was told a lot about this place and I really wanted to appreciate it. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t very nice as it was raining all the time. Although the rain wasn’t soaking rain, it was enough to put a damper on my spirits. We actually came from another medieval city of Bruges which was in West Flanders. We were making our way back to Brussels through the efficient Belgian railway network. Because of the rain, we had drinks and dinner hoping the rain would stop but it wasn’t to be.

More importantly, we were keeping an eye out for the train timings since we would be making our way back to Brussels after dinner. Unfortunately, I didn’t plan on spending the night here so we would need to make sure that we can get back to Brussels. This was at the back of my mind lest we end up sleeping in the streets of Ghent. There were still a lot of light outside since it was summer but we had to leave. We took a tram to go to the train station and from there took the train back to Brussels. There railway station of Ghent was quite attractive as it had a wonderfully designed lobby. It almost had a feel of a church. There was some construction work being done as it seemed like a new platform is being built. The signage was a bit confusing there but we managed to find the platform. There are a lot of train plying the Ghent-Brussels route so it wasn’t really a problem getting back.
