Canal at the Beguinage in Bruges

I had low expectations when I dropped by the beguinage in Bruges. I was told that there isn’t really much to see here since it is just a housing complex. A Beguinage is unique in this area that lay religious women decided to come an live in this self contain community. It is short of becoming a nun since there was no desire to withdraw from the world. The beguinage has houses, green spaces and of course a church. The church here wasn’t that interesting either since it was small and the design wasn’t that impressive. It does have that small community church feel as compared to a more grand cathedral.

I reminded myself that my friend was still waiting outside since I just promised to rush through the beguinage to take photos. It was uninteresting anyway so I wasn’t really missing much. On the way out, I happened to cross one of the canals which run by the beguinage. I noticed that there seemed to be quite a few swan and they seem to gathered in that space beyond the fence. I think the swan couldn’t have picked a better spot since that spot was quite picturesque. There was a nice old bridge which crosses the canal. I think it would have been better had the sky been blue. I continued on the path which eventually led me back to where I began.
