Inside the Market House Restaurant in Donegal Town

I has been a long day on the road for us. I wasn’t driving but I can only imagine how tired the one doing the driving is. We took a break for a bit in the small village of Cong in County Mayo but from there is it was a long drive back home. I was actually very tired as well but I could not afford to fall asleep since I need to keep talking to the driver as well as help to navigate the way back home. It was unfamiliar territory for us at least until we make it to Sligo. The way is well sign posted as long as we make it to the national road.

We took a break at Carraroe where there was a retail park where we had some snacks just in time before the shop closes. We decided that we would be having dinner out as well but this was a bit far so we decided that we would try to find a place in Donegal Town. The one suggest in trip advisor was not open at the time so we just thought to go to the town instead. The town square is always buzzing with activity so we thought we would have better luck here. After parking, we walked to the main square and sure enough there were a few places open here.

We ended up eating at the Market House Restaurant. It was in a hotel and it came highly recommended. The restaurant seemed to be a very cozy place. Not a lot of people were there anymore probably because it was already quite late. We still managed to get our food, which was ribs, lambs shank and some grilled meat. I must admit the food was very nice. It was quite different from the normal food I have outside, that means, it is, not roast of the day. I really loved the ambience in the restaurant and I would have loved to linger but we really needed to get going. It was only half and hour drive left and we can finally call it a day.
