Cheese Shop at Ailwee Cave

Farm Shop at Ailwee Cave

Farm Shop at Ailwee Cave

When visiting Ailwee Cave, one just needs to drive all the way to the carpark and go in the visitor center. It is quite straightforward since there is just the cave to see here. It seems some have noticed that it is quite boring here so only a few have set up shop here. One was a cheese shop. I’m not a huge fan of cheese but I eat it anyway. To think that there is a cheese shop all the way out here. Then again, they probably have a lot of cows in the area so it should be easy to get the raw material. The cheese shop is at a small stone house below the carpark.

If it weren’t for the sign outside we would have probably missed it. The shop isn’t very big but it did smell of cheese. The cheese here is manufactured in house and it is refreshing to see it being made. There were a few sample places of the cheese including one with cumin, which I thought tasted strange. Perhaps ordinary cheese tasted too ordinary these days so they are trying to differentiate themselves from the others cheese shops. The staff was very friendly and was talking about the cheese they sell.
