Lakeside View at Kylemore Abbey
I remember when we were approaching the Kylmore Abbey estate. The road was passing by two lakes. The landscape there was stunning and I thought that it would be a nice place to have a home. Turns out that someone already made it a home. Kylemore Abbey used to be a castle that was turned into an abbey. With such a beautiful location, it is not surprising that there are trails which run through the estate. The main one is obviously the one which runs past the abbey itself. I wasn’t sure how far it runs through the estate or beyond. From the abbey you can have a good view of the area around the lake.
Walking Along the Lake Shore at Kylemore Abbey
You can take a closer look at the scenery by hopping on the main trail which brings you along the lake shore. While the water was inviting, it was surely ice cold. It was late in the day and the days were getting shorter. The weather was miserable as well so I didn’t get very good shots of the scenery here. I’m sure it would have been nice on a beautiful day. The trail here seems to be good for those times you want to be alone. I think I can understand why the nuns chose this place for an abbey. The quiet is very conducive to a contemplative life.
