Going to Kylemore Abbey

When I told my good friend that we would be exploring the Connemara Peninsula, I was told to visit this place called Kylemore Abbey. I didn’t really plan to visit this area, it was only until the map was given to use that we decided to go. The map had a picture of what looked like a castle. The map didn’t have a name for it but I thought it has got to be Kylemore Abbey. Once we left the coastal route, the drive turned boring. There wasn’t much to see. We passed by a few villages but that was it. It was only when we started approaching the abbey area that things started to become interesting.

There were a few lakes here and the views here were stunning. The roads were by the lakeside and it made me wish that we stopped for some photos but there didn’t seem to be anywhere to stop. It started to pour when we arrived at Kylemore Abbey. We didn’t have much choice but to make a run for it. From the lakeside you can take a photo of the abbey but it was too far for my lens. We are aware that it was almost closing time, so we hurried in the visitor center to buy some entrance tickets. The abbey nestled at the foot of the mountain looks amazing from the outside, I hope it looks just as great in the inside.
