The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has an extensive collection of art from various parts of the world. The museum has organized the various art by region. With Asia being given a generous amount of space. I guess it is not really that surprising since Asia has a lot of very old art which predate most western art. The major civilizations are represented here. The next gallery is the Indian gallery and unsurprisingly, the gallery here relates a lot to religion. Two of the world’s major religions happen to originate from India – Hinduism and Buddhism.

Being Christian, I don’t know too much about Hinduism and Buddhism. All I know are facts which one would learn from world history class. There were various exhibits about both religions featuring religions figurines. I am not familiar with the personalities involved here but there were definitely a lot of Buddha figures. My thoughts go back to the time when I visited Myanmar and there was statue upon statue of Buddha. The gallery here was nowhere near that and it is much more pleasant in these airconditioned halls. The was an interesting replica of an Indian structure, probably an Indian temple. There was a lot of detail to be seen here but it was a bit too far to see.
