Walking Along the High Line

When I was looking at the map of New York City, I was trying to figure out which ones would I want to visit in this very interesting city. Found one place which I thought was interesting. The name was High Line. There is a clue in the name. The High Line is one of the newer destinations in New York City and it is an interesting one. The High Line is a re-purposed former railway line. There used to be an old railway line in this area called the West Side Line. For one reason or another, the line fell into disuse. Parts of the line here are elevated so I wasn’t a very nice sight to see an unused train line. The fact that it is elevated makes it worse.

Or does it? In 2006, construction started on reviving the old line, however, not as a railway line but as a linear park. It was a brilliant idea to make use of the existing property and help revitalize the city. The christened High Line, spans several city blocks and it is lined with greenery. I think it is a great way to pass the time here in New York especially if Central Park is too big for you. There are several access points to the park and entering the place isn’t that different from an elevated railway station.
