Walking Towards Times Square in New York

I was on my way back to the Port Authority Bus Terminal to make sure that I would be back in Livingston before nightfall. It would be difficult for me to tell where I need to get off on the way back since it was my first time there. Along the way, I passed by one of the busiest places in New York City. One can probably consider this place the heart of New York city – Times Square. Times Square is probably most famous for the New Year’s Eve countdown that culminates with a ball which goes down at the stroke of midnight. Rather then being a plaza, Time Square is more of a major junction where several streets happened to meet up.

The result of this is a larger than normal intersection which eventually served as place for major events such as New Year’s Eve countdown. A lot of people find their way here. They even have some stands where people can sit an people watch. One thing you would probably notice here is that there a huge number of signs, electronic or otherwise. It is a feast for the eyes as there is so much vying for your attention here. There is also a camera somewhere where people can be projected into an electronic signboard nearby. At the time of my visit, there was a lot of construction going on and it wasn’t exactly very nice. People we walking all over the place and at times it can get a bit dangerous with all the cars coming down. Fortunately, I had a lot of experience doing this in Asia so I was not that worried about it.
