I arrived in New Jersey on a Saturday and I had the rest of the day to settle down in preparation for that. I had a nice dinner at Appleby’s. It has been a while since I had such a nice dinner outside. Back where I stayed, there wasn’t much choice for nice food, so while some people may frown at my choice, it was already loads better than what I had before. The next day was a Sunday and I wanted to first attend Mass before heading elsewhere. The nearest church here is Saint Philomena Church but I didn’t have a way to get there on my own. I considered walking but it was too far. Fortunately, the Westminster Hotel is aware of the issues about their location so they have a service to bring visitors to nearby places as well as a pick up service at a scheduled time.

I asked to be driven to Saint Philomena Church and arranged a pickup after Mass. The church here didn’t look like the church was I used to in Ireland. I guess if you imagine how life was in the 1800s that would be what the church looked like. It had four columns in front and a spire in the middle. It didn’t seem to be that large and even inside it was not large at all. I guess, it fits the size of the local community. The interior was clean with the pews forming a cruciform. The windows were all stained glass. The Holy Mass was just like any other I have attending except the songs were unfamiliar to me. After the Mass, my pick up service came just in time. I’m grateful for this service.
