Ards Forest Park Coastal Walk

Crystal Clear Waters at the Ards Forest Park Coast

Crystal Clear Waters at the Ards Forest Park Coast

I managed to end up at one of the main trail which dot the Ards Forest Park. This was a nice flat trail which was wide enough for a vehicle to pass through. Looking at the trail, the tire tracks tell me that vehicles really pass by. While I was hardly the only person on the trail, there weren’t a lot either. I was walking for about thirty minutes but the trail doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. I was thinking if it would be leading to the water but I found the trail continuing to head inland and even up a gentle slope. I thought to myself that I prefer to see the coast rather than just hiking up a road with nothing interesting to see.

When the trail seemed to be moving closer to what I think was the coast, I decided to break my hike and head towards the coast. There were a faint trail in the forest which seems to head in the general direction of where I thought the coast would be. This one was tricky since the trail was faint. Getting lost here is a distinct possibility. I kept trying to remember landmarks just in case I needed to backtrack. A branch here, or a stone there, anything to get my bearings back. In the end I didn’t really need it since I really did end up somewhere near the coast. There was a better trail here which follows the coast up and down. There is some nice scenery here and with a lovely day such as this, it is sure to delight.
