Continuing on to the Ards Forest Park

Rocky Shore at Ards Forest Park

The Ards Friary is located in a beautiful part of Donegal. It is probably not that surprising that the Ards Friary is a right next to the Ards Forest Park. This forest park as the name implies covers the surrounding forest in the area. There is actually another access route to the Ards Forest Park and that it goes through the main entrance of the park. I have been there previously but this time, I went by the entrance from the Ards Friary side. I think this entrance is more convenient for me. The path from the Ards Friary ends rather abruptly with a fence which prevents vehicles from coming through. The path also is visibly less maintained from here on out.

The path is much rougher here and it is quite uneven so it pays to have proper walking shoes here. I did not want to twist my ankle here which is why I was wearing my hiking shoes. It is probably preferable that you do since the path can go on for several kilometers. I never managed to walk all the way through the Ards Forest park so I don’t know how far it actually is. This is my first time walking from this part of the park, but I think I’m going to like it.
