Glebe House

I am here on the shores of the beautiful Lough Gartan, where there is a known gallery called the Glebe Gallery. I realized when I got here that there are actually two parts to this place. One is the Glebe House and the others is the Glebe Gallery. The gallery where the art stuff is displayed but I think the main attraction here is the Glebe House. The house here used to be the home of the artist Derek Hill. His works are displayed in the house. Visitors need to go to the gallery first to purchase tickets to enter the house for a guided tour. Unfortunately, photographs are not allowed. I was able to snap one photo before I was informed that they weren’t allowed. There were no signs so don’t blame me!

Inside the Glebe House

Inside the Glebe House

The house is a nice and elegant two story house. As you can see from the single photo, the interiors are all very tastefully decorated with European and even Asian furniture. Derek Hill seemed to be a well traveled man and he even has stuff from Japan, a few stuff even looked Chinese. There were also local artwork on display here including works from a local artist from Tory Island, which I was able to visit recently. The tour takes you through the entire house including the bedroom. The bedroom has a nice view Gartan Lake. I would like a house like that. It was a bit creepy to learn that we was still drawing even when we has already approaching death. The guided tour was informative and the guide seemed to be very knowledgeable. It is a pity that photos are not allowed here. What are we going to do with photos anyway.
