Making Our Way Back to Tory Village

I was very happy with what I have seen here in Tory Island. We were fortunate that the weather here was much better than the Irish mainland and I got a lot of nice shots. The fact that the scenery itself was already spectacular only helps improve them. The island is quite small and one could conceivably walk from one end to the other in an hour. But to do so would not give the beauty of the island any justice. There are lots of nice cliffs to see here and it would be best to take you time to appreciate it.

My mind goes back to the unfortunate schedule of the ferry where it leaves for the island practically midday and departs the island before dark. This doesn’t really give people enough time to explore the island apart from seeing a few cliffs here and there. Given how short the time is allotted for visitors, staying the night is probably the best option. I have heard how traditional Irish music is played here and I would like to see it in action. You don’t get to see that much these days. Tory is the place to see if since it doesn’t seem to be done for the tourist trade, at least not entirely. We decided that we needed to walk back to the village to make our ferry ride back to the Irish mainland. Although it would have been nice to spend the night here, that wasn’t part of the plan. Maybe next time.
