Lunch at the Strand Bar and Restaurant

Outside the Strand Bar and Restaurant at Strandhill

I think I got tired not from climbing the sand dune at Strandhill but rather from fighting the strong winds which batter the area. It was sometimes difficult to just stand since you have these winds constantly pushing you. It is also not a fun experience as the winds whip up sands that may enter your eyes. The sea water is also corrosive and it makes my hair sticky. We were attempting to find place to eat here and there seems to be a well known place here but there were too many people. This place seems to be a very popular place as there are a lot of restaurants in the area. It is not really surprising that we ended up in a pub.

The Strand Bar and Restaurant was along the main street in the town. They have a large outdoor area but I didn’t want to get sand and seawater on my food so we went indoors. The pub was also packed with people and we had difficulty finding a place to sit. We eventually had to share a tiny table for our lunch. I had the roast of the day, which I guess is typical pub food here in Ireland. The food wasn’t really anything special at least I won’t say that it was bad. The pub itself was quite pleasant. There were tourists here as well, the one seated beside us was from the United States and I think they are having their Irish pub experience. They seem to be enjoying it.
