Golden Rose Bed and Breakfast

We were finally done with our activity. It was very refreshing to be able to participate that I wish that we would be invited again next year. We too a lot of photos within the church before parting ways. We had some dinner out of town before heading back. There wasn’t much to the town after dark, there was this row of shops near the church but that was practically it. We were looking for a pub to go to but we weren’t able to find out. Although someone told us that there was one or two there. The restaurant we went to was serving wine and it closes quite early. In short, there is no nightlife in Knock.

Of course, you would think it would be silly to try to find any nightlife in Knock. The shops also closed early so there wasn’t much to do here. Probably worst of all, is that we will be spending the night here since we were planning on going around the area the next day. We booked rooms at a bed and breakfast here aptly called Golden Rose Bed and Breakfast. Golden Rose is referring to the literal golden rose which was offered to Our Lady of Knock by Pope Saint John Paul II.

Golden Rose Bed and Breakfast is a short walk away from the basilica. It is not immediately visible from the outside since you need to drive inn a bit to get to the bed and breakfast. I enjoy this concept of bed and breakfast since you get to meet other people here. The owners were very friendly and chatted with us a bit. They were religious folk and the were joining the activities in the recent days. The house itself is surprisingly spacious. I got a room on the second floor. I was only by myself but I managed to land a two bed room. I didn’t really need the other bed but that was the one which was available to me. The attached bathroom was okay, though the door of the shower was falling apart. I needed to fix it up so that I won’t make a mess when I shower. While there was wifi, it was relying on a 3G wifi hotspot. Reception here is quite bad, so I don’t blame them. I don’t see anything wrong with this place, and won’t hesitate to recommend others to stay here. It is just that it is not easy to justify staying over at Knock unless you have business here.
