Lovely View Camping at Knockalla Camping and Caravan Park

We weren’t going to go swimming at Ballymastocker Strand since the water was too cold anyway. Before we head back though, we have to pass by another place which was in the area. We had friends who were going camping in the vicinity. They were at Knockalla Camping and Caravan Park which was at a slightly elevated area near the beach. We had to go around the area since there was no direct route. There were confusing signs to go the park but we managed to find it. We first saw all the caravans parked there and we knew it this was the place.

We were trying to look for the camping area and we were met by someone who seemed to be in charge. We sternly asked if we were staying and I thought that was a bit unwelcoming of him. We head off to the direction of the campsite which was nothing more than an open field. It is camping after all. My friends’ tents were already set up and were straining hard to stay upright in face of the powerful winds in the area. Starting a fire was a nightmare because of the wind, we left before them managed to light the fire. The facilities of the campsite were simple. All you need is an extension cord and an adapter to plug into their power supply. You need to remember to bring this else you won’t have power at all. Toilets and showers are at the main building. This was probably not my idea of camping since I would be thinking of wilderness rather than some grassy field. The convenience of electricity is very welcome though. In the end, I didn’t stay there. We left my friends to fend for themselves and that night they were drenched by a heavy downpour. They didn’t really like the experience there as they were complaining about the facilities or lack of them. I didn’t get to stay there for myself, so I can’t make any real judgement on them.
