Ballymastocker Strand

Ballymastocker Strand in County Donegal

When we were at Portsalon, at least the part where the holiday cottages are, we already saw that lovely stretch of sand which we saw coming down from the cliffs on our way to Fanad Head. If you see something like that, there is no doubt that anyone would want to visit that place. From Portsalon, we can see that beach and it wasn’t really that far. After managing to extricate ourselves out of the parking lot, we made our way to another parking lot which was near the beach. There was no sign that something special was behind the bushes and we just walked through the path behind the parking lot to get there.

Beautiful and Yet Empty Beach at Ballymastocker Strand in County Donegal

I must say that this is a very beautiful strip of sand. Ballymastocker Strand is a beautiful beach here in Portsalon. The names are already very confusing since they seem to be used interchangeably. Ballymoastocker Strand has was awarded the Blue Flag, something of a standard to aspire for beach in terms of beach and water management. The standards seem to be quite strict since this place is really lovely. The sand is not like the sugary fine white sand that I have grown accustomed to, but the cleanliness of the place more than makes up for it. I have never seen a beach as nice as this as empty as this. Sure there were a few groups of people here enjoying the beach but this is a far cry from the thousands of people who would flock to the beach every summer in Southeast Asia.
