Walking the Shepherd's Path at the Giant's Causeway in County Antrim

Walking the Shepherd’s Path at the Giant’s Causeway in County Antrim

There were a few walking paths here at the Giant’s Causeway and we have already come to the end of one of them which ends at the Amphitheater at the Giant’s Causeway. The rest of this trail was closed off due to safety concerns. It is a pity since I would be interested to see what else is there. There are a few more sites beyond this point but we won’t be able to see it anymore. We decided to head back to where the original trail branched off. We needed to backtrack towards the Grand Causeway, it wasn’t really that far. At one point, the trail sharply rises up to the top of the cliff.

There was a nicely made stairs here which brings visitors up to the top. This path is called the Shepherd’s Path. You might probably be able to guess why it was named so. And it becomes very clear once you get to the top. The top of the cliff was surprisingly flat. There were fields here and further trails for you to explore. This is also a good spot to see where you have come from. It was a surprisingly enjoyable hike. The walk wasn’t particularly strenuous or even dangerous, but the view from this place is quite nice. The sun was getting a little low in the horizon now, and it was shining on the cliff face. You can clearly see the paths which we took. It was hard to believe that we have walked so far.
