Walking Towards Lacada Point

Columnar Jointed Volcanics at the Giant’s Causeway

From the Grand Causeway, there was a path which leads up and along a rugged mountain. It wasn’t very tall but it was good enough to give us good views of the rest of the area below. We weren’t really expecting to be hiking here but the trail seems to be very good and safe. The trail follows the coast but it is elevated, for some reason we didn’t have a map, but I don’t think there was any need for a map. The trail was very straightforward and that was no way you can get lost here. The mountainside was actually quite impressive as there were still hexagonal columns rising from some parts of the cliff face. It does make you want to dig into this cliff to expose more of these interesting rocks.

From here you can see a lot of the Giant’s Causeway, probably half of the entire area. I had no idea how far up we were until I notice people walking up the trail below us. There were already like ants walking up the trail. I was just glad that the trail here was very mild and the gradient wasn’t very steep. I loved walking in places like these as long as the trail is not steep. It makes me wonder what happened to our plans of hillwalking here in Ireland.
