Roman Forums at Night

Light Show at Augustus' Forum in Rome

Light Show at Augustus’ Forum in Rome

I was very happy to see the Colosseum in Rome at night. It was actually quite magical to see. The monument is lit up at night with the lights strategically placed in various places. I expect other places in the historic center of Rome to be given this kind of treatment. So we were here in the area to basically retrace our steps but this time we are going for night shots. The closest one in the area would be the Roman Forums. There were actually several here of varying sizes but the most eye catching one were the ones which were lit up.

Trajan's Market in Rome at Night

Trajan’s Market in Rome at Night

There, Trajan’s Forum and Augustus Forum are both lit but each with a unique style. The Trajan’s Forum features the Trajan’s Market and it is lit up similar to the Colosseum. Even the structure above the Colosseum were lit and they really looked nice. But what was more eye catching here was the Augustus Forum. This one was more high tech. There is a powerful projector which projected images onto the ruins and told a story about it. It was a silent show but it was enchanting. I noticed that there was a cordoned off area where we were watching the show but I wasn’t sure what it was. I was thinking it could be for the light show but we were already there watching it. There were seat in the restricted area, so maybe that is something they wanted people to pay for. Honestly, I didn’t see the point of having to pay for that when you can see the whole thing from the outside. I don’t think the position of the seats were that different from where we were.
