Beautiful Arch at the Palatine Hill in Rome

The Colosseum was a disappointment since weren’t able to go in as it was May 1st which is a holiday for most of the world. However, the Colosseum is not the only place see here in this area. There is a hill right across the Colosseum and it seems to be quite important. This is the Palatine Hill. I didn’t know about the Palatine Hill until I came here but it seems that it is more important that I realize it. It importance seems to go as far as the origins of Rome. Some of your might have heard of the story of Romulus and Remus, these two men were famously nursed by a she-wolf as kids when they are found. These two were then grow up to found the future city of Rome. Apparently, the cave where Romulus and Remus were found in is supposedly found here in Palatine Hill. I have no idea where the cave is. The she-wolf didn’t make any records either.

The Palatine Hill is one of the seven hills of Rome and it is probably the most important one. It is the one in the center and it is where a lot of the important ancient Roman structures were found. The Palatine Hill is where the emperors of Rome built their palaces and it probably makes sense since this is the highest point in the area. The hill isn’t particularly high so I don’t think it would have made much difference. Anyway, being one of the most important places in Rome, I would be very interested it explore this place. However, just like the Colosseum, the gates of the Palatine Hill were closed because of the holiday. It is very frustrating that these places are closed, I understand that the staff need their breaks but this is the time where most people are out. Maybe they could hire other people to work on the holiday? There was still a path which continues on to the other part of the hill. Hopefully, there will be some places which are open.
