The Louvre Museum is a massive building which houses some of the world’s most famous works of art. The collection already has the Mona Lisa as one of its most famous residents. A bit lost in the rush to see these important works of art is the beauty of the actual building. The Louvre Museum used to be a royal palace before Louis XIV decided to move the palace to the outskirts of Paris in Versailles. I had already been to the Palace of Versailles and it is simply one of the most amazing buildings that I have been to. There were also numerous works of art there but now where near as comprehensive at the one in the Louvre Museum.

A Look at the Louvre Palace

The Louvre Palace eventually become the place to showcase the collection of art which have been accumulated over the years. The Louvre Museum was born. However, this doesn’t mean that the Louvre Palace went away. You can still see the beauty of the Louvre Palace and not doubt they will amaze you just as much as the paintings on display here. Unsurprisingly, the Louvre Palace shares the design of the Palace of Versailles. Painted ceilings seem to be a common theme at French royal residences. There were still painting here but I wasn’t really sure if they were part of the palace or part of the art collection. When on a visit to the Louvre Museum, keep in mind that this is still a palace and you would still be impressed even if you weren’t looking at a Mona Lisa or some other painting.
