Fields of Greens in Provins

As we were walking along the magnificent town walls of the medieval town of Provins, my eyes can’t help but be drawn towards the verdant fields just outside the walls. There were vast fields of green beyond the walls and it was an amazing sight. The closest experience that I could remember that resembles this is a rice field, but walking through a rice field isn’t exactly a very fun experience, unless you like to sink into waist deep water. It is interesting that countries as developed as France still have vast fields like these. In Asia, places like these are all disappearing very fast, either to be turned into a commercial farm or turned into a subdivision. It is hard to understand why anyone would trade their food for that kind of thing.

If you look at the satellite map of Provins, you can see that this place is surrounded by vast fields. It is really very picturesque, and you can probably imagine yourself walking through the fields Sound of Music style, okay, it is the wrong country but similar. It was still spring but the plants are already growing. In the distance, I see a field of bright yellow. I never knew what they were but I assumed that they were rapeseed flowers. I have seen photos of rapeseed fields elsewhere and they are very picturesque. I would have wanted to make a run for that field but it was a bit far and my companions didn’t want to walk all the way there. We can just helplessly look at it and imagine.
