Arrival at Montserrat

Bridge to Montserrat

We were on the train to Montserrat when I started to see the distinctive mountain which where Montserrat is. Incidentally, the name Montserrat means Serrated Mountain, most probably describing the mountain it is located at. We took a commuter train heading to Manresa from Barcelona to an hour outside the city. The train wasn’t full by this time as some people already got off along the way, still there were a lot of people who got off the Montserrat station. I believe there is another stop further down were you can take other modes of transportation to the top of the mountain. For us, we will be getting off at the cable car stop.

The station here wasn’t much as it was just a platform for people to wait for the train. There is an underpass to get to the cable car station, however there were a lot of people who got off here so we needed to queue to get out of the train station and into the cable car station. It seems that we would be waiting a while before getting on the cable car. We decided to just take some photos of the beautiful mountain behind us.
