I really think that the Old Town of Segovia was very well designed as a tourist destination. Upon arrival at the main plaza of Segovia, you would be greeted by the amazing aqueduct which is the signature sight of Segovia. It is a can’t miss sight as this is the first think you see after you get off the bus from the railway station. Off to the side of the plaza were some restaurants and hostels. I don’t know anyone who stayed here but I think it would be a nice experience since the aqueduct is lit up at night. The alcazar off to the end of town is also another nice place to visit at night. Unfortunately, the days are long this time of the year so night fall won’t come until nine in the evening. I would have trouble going back to Madrid if that were the case.

I was also amused by the presence of a rather unique statue. It was that of an animal with two children sucking milk from the breasts of the animal. Then it struck me what that statue was. It was a statue of Romulus and Remus sucking from the she-wolf which nursed them. Romulus and Remus according to legend, found the city of Rome. Rome, Roman Aqueduct, and Segovia, it all connected. This was a gift from the city of Rome to the city of Segovia on the occasion of its two thousandth anniversary. It used to be that Rome, back then the Roman empire was controlling this land. At least they are still friends.
