Puente de San Martin

Not really having a real plan of my own, I decided to follow a group of Korean tourists who seem to be in a hurry to go somewhere. I assumed that their tour guide was bringing them to an interesting place. The path we took wasn’t exactly very good as it was a bit steep and somewhat dangerous for some of the elderly Korean ladies. They did seem to be fit enough and nothing really happened to any of them. So where exactly was their tour guide they bringing us, I mean them. We ended up at a bridge which was crossing the Rio Tajo. The bridge here is the Puente de San Martin or Saint Martin’s Bridge.

The Korean group was continuing on across the bridge. I thought this bridge looked familiar as I saw a bridge similar to to this one as I was still making my way to the Historic City of Toledo. This made me assume that the Koreans were heading back to their tour bus as it was already outside the old city. Turns out, I was wrong, this was not the same bridge I saw earlier. I took a look at Google Maps and the bridge which was near the train station is on a different side of the town. Anyway, it is a nice bridge. It is a multi-arch bridge built with bricks and it fits quite well with the historic city’s overall design. This bridge seems to be one of only two bridges which lead out of the old town. There are more modern bridges now but those two are the old ones still there.
