Approaching the Historic City of Toledo

We were told by the nice people at the Toledo tourism authority at the Toledo Railway station that there are multiple ways of going to the historic city of Toledo. The easiest way is to go by cab, of which there are quite many of them outside. The second way it to get there by public bus. There is a bus stop right outside the bus station but since I can’t really speak that much Spanish, I decided to forgo that option as well. The last option was to walk all the way there. We were told that it is just a 30 minutes walk but it is all uphill. I think I would be able to handle 30 minutes of uphill walking. I don’t think it will be that bad. I have been in worse uphill walks. Toledo is not on top of a mountain so I know I would be able to handle that. It was a hot day in Toledo. I have been staying in a cold climate for a while I was refreshing to feel this kind of warmth. However, after a while I start to feel uncomfortable as the noon time sun was really hot. Has it always been this hot? Maybe when I was in Asia, I would always be indoors whenever the sun is out. It was my first 20+ degree temperature in months, I think I wasn’t used to this anymore.

Walking along the highway, I was following a steady stream of cheap tourists who preferred to walk. At the bridge we were greeted by the sight of the Historic City of Toledo nestled on top of a small hill. It really wasn’t that high. Come to think of it, if I wasn’t too cheap to take public transport, I wouldn’t have been able to see this beautiful sight. The historic city of Toledo looms over the rest of the city and there is lovely old bridge which connects it to the modern city. I didn’t really know what to expect here in Toledo, which made me glad to see this kind of sight here. After the bridge, it wasn’t really that far from the entrance itself. You would start to see the city walls, you know you already arrived when you have started climbing.
