Going out of Dublin Castle

Castle Looking Walls in Dublin Castle

Castle Looking Walls in Dublin Castle

Dublin Castle was surprisingly interesting. Exploring of the rooms in the castle was a bit underwhelming, much like visiting a nice hotel, except this one is a castle. For me the interesting part was the one below the castle where they showed us the remains of the original castle. It is then that I realize that much of Dublin was built over the previous town, so if you just dig, you would find interesting relics from the past. In fact, the remains of the River Poddle can be found seeping through underground walls of Dublin Castle. We basically made a quick tour of the ruins of Dublin Castle before heading back out of the castle. That was the end of the tour. There was still time and I was thinking of heading on to the castle gardens which I saw from one of the rooms upstairs.

Interestingly, the castle garden was built separately from the castle itself. I suppose this was a result of building some roads to decongest the center. I remember seeing the map of old Dublin castle that there was a garden attached to it. Now you need to walk past the attached church at Dublin Castle, cross a small road and go through a wall to access the garden. Visiting the garden is free. The garden itself didn’t really have anything noteworthy apart from some castle walls in the distance. The garden had some paths crisscrossing the green to prevent people from ruining the lawn. I guess this would be a nice place to hang around as the sun sets, there are less people as well.
