Tea Time at Fort Dunree

Tea and Scones at Fort Dunree

We were quite disappointed at the weather when we visited Fort Dunree. It was awful as the sky was dark, it was raining, it was cold and it was windy, basically a typical day in Ireland. Since we were already at the car park at Fort Dunree, we decided to wait it out and try to see if the weather will clear up. We kind of got tired of waiting in the car and we needed to find a place to unwind while waiting the rain out. As it turns out, there was a small tea house to the left of the car park. It was a nice little tea house but it wasn’t those traditional types.

As the rain didn’t show any sign of letting up, we ordered some food just to pass the time. I ordered some scones and some tea for myself. I have come to like these scones as they were quite tasty and you can still put your favorite spread on it, such as butter or jam. We got a lot of butter and spread it on our scones and it was nice. The tea was nothing special but it kept me warm while waiting for the rain to stop. In the other side of the room, there was a surprisingly large group of people having some sort of meeting. I have no idea what group they are nor did I care. Inside the tea house were several photographs which were taken from this point. What excited me the most was the photograph of aurora borealis, but with weather like this, I think you might need to stay here a few nights to catch them, if they even show up at all.
