Going to Inishowen in County Donegal

It seems that I was based in a rather lovely part of Ireland. County Donegal as seen from the map is a county which seemed to be almost separate from the rest of Ireland. It used to be part of the province of Ulster however, only Donegal voted to be join the Republic of Ireland. What is the United Kingdom’s loss is Ireland gain. Donegal is one of the most beautiful places in the country. It is raw, wild and not as well developed as the rest of Ireland. As a result, there are a lot of scenic spots here that could be the envy of other counties. It was another weekend and we head off to visit another part of county Donegal. This time we were visiting Inishowen.

Inishowen is actually not that far, however, to get there from Letterkenny, one would have to go around a large body of water. I was thinking to myself that travel time would be much shorter to Inishowen if there was a bridge or a tunnel here. But you would miss all the beautiful scenery along the way. It seems the authorities really plan for this to keep the beauty of the place. I would have to admit that having a large bridge would be an eyesore in the natural beauty of the Donegal countryside. A tunnel would be extremely expensive and impossible to justify considering the amount of traffic that passed through this area.
