Going to Malin Head

A Look at the Atlantic Ocean from Malin Head

I have only been a few weeks that I have arrived in Ireland that I already found myself exploring places which, up until recently, were beyond my dreams. Gone were the days of just looking at mere photos and I’m now taking those photos myself. My friend has been a godsend since he already had his own car and thus I am able to explore faraway places more freely. The area where I stay in isn’t really very convenient to travel on your own. Public transport is practically non-existent, though my friends say there is a bus service, but no one has actually seen the bus. Go figure. Anyway, this was another day for us to go exploring the wild but beautiful county of Donegal.

Donegal is famous for its raw beauty and we are in a great place to base our explorations of this county. Last time, we visited Horn Head near the town of Dunfanaghy, now we will be visiting Malin Head. This is also in the county of Donegal. We had to go around the inlet near our place to get to the other side of the inlet. I was wondering whether a bridge would significantly shorten the travel time between the towns however, this would probably ruin the beautiful scenery, a tunnel under the inlet would be even more expensive especially when considering the traffic that will use it, so scenic drive it is. It takes us about two hours to get to Malin Head. Ah, the wonders of GPS technology where you don’t need to know the way to go places. We even go to experience first hand strange routes which were still on the maps considering how rough they were. What matters is that we managed to get there.
