Thick Shrubbery at Horn Head

Hillwalking is certainly a fascinating activity. I was under the impression that there would be worn paths when going on hillwalks. However, I was surprised to see that not all of them are like this. After the ruins of the house at Horn Head, we continued on to the rest of the area where the path wasn’t clearly marked. Finally, the path vanished altogether and we were left to just blaze a path on our own. I’m okay with blazing my own path, the problems is that I don’t really have the proper equipment for that as I need to know whether there is a hole in front of me or not. All this time, I have been frantically trying to avoid stepping on the plant life here. But it seem there is now avoiding it when the entire floor is covered with them.

The plant life here is certainly intriguing. Most of the plants growing here are hardy and extremely short plants. Most of them don’t grow higher than your knee. The reason for this growth is that the powerful winds would blow down anything higher than that. As a result, the plants here are very tough and perfectly suited for this kind of weather. In some parts, I had to just abandon all care and just step on these plants. If they are sturdy they would recover from my stomping. True enough, soon after I stepped away, they simply shrugged of what just happened. This makes it very difficult to walk in this terrain, which is already uneven to begin with. I hope I don’t end up limping my way back.
